Here are the specifics for matchweek 16 of ISL 2024-25, starting with the most recent match report:
Chennaiyin FC and Odisha FC finished with a score of 2-2.
(Wilmar Jordan Gil 48′, 53′; Dorielton 80′, Mohammed Nawaz (OG) 90+7′)
Chennaiyin FC squandered another advantageous position as they conceded two points at home despite holding a two-goal advantage. Wilmar Jordan Gil put Chennaiyin ahead by scoring two impressive goals early in the second half, both of which were set up by Connor Shields’ significant contributions in the buildup.
Following a balanced first half, where Chennaiyin had a slight advantage despite less possession, they came alive with two goals from Jordan. However, Odisha brought in Hugo Boumous to orchestrate the final moments, significantly boosted by an outstanding cameo from Diego Mauricio off the bench. Initially, they got one back thanks to Dorielton, who netted his first goal for the team after being brought in as a replacement for the injured Roy Krishna.
It was yet another recent addition involved in the play for the equaliser as Rahul KP capitalized on a rebound following Mohammed Nawaz’s save from a close-range effort by Mauricio. Rahul’s bicycle kick struck the post and then bounced into the net off the goalkeeper, who was caught off guard.
FC Goa 1-1 Hyderabad FC
(Armando Sadiku 52′; Allan Paulista 90+1′)
FC Goa and Hyderabad FC played to a draw in a heated match at Fatorda, which saw both teams down to ten players after red cards were issued to Borja Herrera and Alex Saji. Ultimately, Allan Paulista’s goal in the 91st minute stopped Goa from climbing to second place on the ISL table, ahead of Bengaluru FC.
They appeared on track to achieve that when Armando Sadiku put them ahead with a clever finish early in the second half, but their task grew tougher when Herrera was dismissed for violent behavior. However, shortly thereafter, Saji received a second yellow card for pulling Sadiku down from behind.
In the first minute of second-half injury time, Paulista executed a superb turn and shot that enabled Hyderabad to secure another point.
