Despite Tottenham's dismal performance this season, head coach Ange Postecoglou claims the team is in a better situation than when he took over 18 months ago.

Injuries are responsible for Tottenham’s performance – Postecoglou

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou stated that the club is in a better place now than when he assumed control 18 months ago, even with their weak performance this season.

Spurs have secured only one victory in their last 10 Premier League games, causing the club to fall to 15th place in the standings.

Injuries have plagued Spurs’ season, with important players like Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Destiny Udogie unavailable for significant portions of the campaign.

The training techniques and playing style of the Australians have been scrutinized due to the high number of muscle injuries experienced at the club this season.

When questioned about the challenges of his second season as manager, Postecoglou responded: “It’s simply injuries.”

“I mean you could step outside and think, ‘Wow, it’s super bright,’ and wonder if it’s not the sun.” But it’s the sun, buddy, we simply have injuries.

“All choices that are made originate from me.”

“I take responsibility for this.” “If you desire a head on a stick, take mine; however, I am completely 100% sure that we are in a superior position as a football club now compared to when I began.”

Postecoglou took over from Antonio Conte as the Tottenham manager in June 2023, transitioning from Celtic.

Tottenham placed fifth in the Premier League in his inaugural season, falling short of Champions League qualification by two points.

Spurs triumphed over the German team Hoffenheim 3-2 on Thursday night, advancing to sixth place in the Europa League standings.

The leading eight teams in the Europa League standings after next Thursday’s concluding round of matches automatically secure a spot in the knockout phases.
