Nepali taekwondo athlete Vaibhavi Sapkota has delivered an impressive international performance, winning one gold and one silver medal at the Hainan Cup International Invitational Taekwondo Tournament in China.

The competition was held at the Tunchang County Stadium in Haikou, Hainan Province, bringing together athletes from several Asian countries.

Gold Medal In Poomsae

Vaibhavi secured the gold medal in the poomsae category after defeating competitors from Thailand and China in the final stages.

Poomsae is a technical discipline in which athletes are judged on accuracy, balance, power, rhythm and the execution of predetermined taekwondo movements.

Her victory placed Nepal at the top of the podium in a competition featuring athletes from established taekwondo nations.

Silver Medal In Kyorugi

Vaibhavi also competed in kyorugi, the full-contact sparring category of taekwondo.

She advanced to the final after a series of competitive matches but finished second after losing to a Thai opponent in the decisive round.

Her silver medal in kyorugi completed a two-medal campaign for Nepal at the tournament.
