Nepal’s Cabinet has approved the Software Development and Operation Committee Formation Order, 2083, clearing the institutional path for a government mechanism intended to develop, operate and maintain software used by public agencies while strengthening state control over digital systems. The government sees the initiative as a way to improve security, ownership and digital independence, while parts of Nepal’s private IT industry have questioned whether the state should become a software developer instead of working with domestic technology companies.

Claude’s Invisible Mark: Anthropic Moves To Make AI Content Traceable Worldwide

Anthropic has begun adding invisible machine-readable watermarks to text and digitally signed provenance information to supported files generated by Claude, following EU AI transparency rules that became applicable on August 2, 2026. The system is being rolled out globally, meaning Claude users in Nepal are also covered when using supported models, although older models are still being updated and the markings are not a perfect way to prove AI authorship.

Could Driverless Podways Become Nepal’s Next Public Transport Revolution?

Nepal is exploring automated electric Podway transport as a possible solution to traffic congestion, difficult terrain and growing demand for cleaner public transportation, with feasibility studies and project proposals emerging in Kathmandu, the Kathmandu–Hetauda–Birgunj corridor, Biratnagar, Koshi, Karnali and other areas. While reports have mentioned a possible 2,055-kilometre national network, most projects remain at the study, DPR or planning stage, meaning Nepal is still far from having a confirmed nationwide Podway system.
