Sandeep Lamichhane Nears Historic World Record In ODI Cricket As Nepal Star Spinner Targets Fastest Ever 150 Wickets Milestone In Just 71 Matches And Needs Only Three More Wickets In Upcoming Five Games To Break Mitchell Starc Record.
Nepal star spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is closing in on another historic achievement in One Day International (ODI) cricket.
If he takes three wickets in the next five matches, he will become the fastest bowler to reach 150 ODI wickets in the fewest matches played.
Since making his ODI debut in 2018, Sandeep reached 100 wickets against Oman in 2023. He achieved that feat in just 42 matches, breaking Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan’s record of 44 matches.
Sandeep currently has 147 wickets in 71 matches. If he takes three more wickets, he will become the first Associate nation bowler to complete 150 ODI wickets.
The current record is held by Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who achieved the milestone in 77 matches.
