Australian Community Raises More Than AUD 5,000 for Nepali Chef Who Lost Four Family Members in Nepal Floods

A local community in Morpeth has come together to support Nepali chef Rajkumar Bhatt, who lost four members of his family in the devastating floods in Nepal.

Bhatt, who works as a chef at the Commercial Hotel in Morpeth, returned to Nepal after the floods to search for news about his family.

According to local reports, his mother, brother, sister-in-law and four-year-old nephew were reported missing after the disaster and were later confirmed dead.

Fundraiser Started by His Workplace

After learning about Bhatt's devastating loss, Commercial Hotel manager Holly Bidwell launched a fundraising campaign to help him.

Customers, members of the local community and a local cricket club have contributed to the campaign.

More than A$5,000 has now been raised to support Bhatt as he deals with the financial and emotional impact of losing four close family members.

He Returned to Nepal After the Floods
