Founded by Jeevan Shrestha, Vending King is proving that advanced technology products can be designed, manufactured, and deployed entirely from Nepal.
What if the vending machine serving your coffee, snacks, or medicine wasn't imported—but designed, engineered, and manufactured right here in Nepal?
That vision has become a reality through Vending King Pvt. Ltd., Nepal's first domestic vending machine manufacturing company. Led by Founder and CEO Jeevan Shrestha, the company is changing how smart retail technology is built while demonstrating that Nepali innovation can compete with global products.
Building a Nepali Manufacturing Success Story
For many years, every vending machine used in Nepal came from overseas. Imported machines were expensive, difficult to customize for local businesses, and often challenging to repair due to limited technical support.
Recognizing this gap, Jeevan Shrestha began experimenting with vending machine prototypes in 2015 while working on innovation projects at the National Innovation Center. What started as an engineering project gradually evolved into a mission—to prove that Nepal could manufacture its own intelligent vending solutions.
That vision took shape in 2021 with the establishment of Vending King Pvt. Ltd. After years of research, product development, and testing, the company achieved full-scale local manufacturing in 2024.
Today, every Vending King machine is designed and assembled in Nepal by a local team.
Made in Nepal, Built from the Ground Up
Unlike imported products, Vending King develops almost every major component of its machines in-house.
The company designs and manufactures:
Electronics and control systems
Firmware and embedded software
Android-based applications
Cloud management platform
Digital payment integration
Metal fabrication and assembly
Quality testing and deployment
Every machine begins as a flat sheet of steel before passing through laser cutting, CNC bending, welding, powder coating, assembly, testing, and final quality inspection at the company's manufacturing facility in Kirtipur.
The result is a smart vending machine built entirely through Nepali engineering and craftsmanship.
A Wide Range of Smart Self-Service Solutions
Vending King manufactures multiple smart retail and automation products, including:
Snack and beverage vending machines
Tea, coffee, and milk vending machines
Water vending machines
Medicine vending machines for hospitals
Perfume vending machines
Reverse vending machines supporting recycling initiatives
Self-service restaurant ordering kiosks
VKiosk, the company's latest Android and Windows-based smart kiosk platform
Its machines are integrated with Nepal's leading digital payment systems, including eSewa, Khalti, FonePay, and NCHL's National Payment Interface, making cashless purchasing simple and convenient for customers.

Supporting Businesses Across Nepal
Vending King machines are now operating in hospitals, colleges, retail stores, and commercial spaces across Kathmandu, Pokhara, Bharatpur, Biratnagar, Nepalgunj, and several other cities.
By manufacturing locally, the company provides businesses with lower-cost solutions while also offering faster servicing, easier customization, and dependable technical support—advantages that imported machines often cannot provide.
The Challenges of Manufacturing in Nepal
Although the company has made significant progress, building advanced technology products in Nepal has not been easy.
One of the biggest challenges is Nepal's inverted customs duty structure, where many raw materials and electronic components used in manufacturing are taxed at higher rates than fully assembled imported machines.
According to the company, this discourages domestic manufacturing and makes importing finished products financially easier than producing them locally.
Vending King has actively raised these concerns with policymakers, emphasizing that stronger support for local manufacturers could help Nepal build a more competitive industrial economy.
Recognition for Innovation
Vending King's efforts have received national recognition.
Among its achievements are:
Featured on Shark Tank Nepal
Top 5 Finalist at the ICT Award Nepal 2026
Growing partnerships with hospitals, colleges, retailers, and commercial organizations across Nepal
Looking to the Future
The company's ambitions extend beyond vending machines.
Its long-term goal is to develop Nepal's first nationwide smart retail automation network powered by its proprietary software platform, AlphaVend.
For founder Jeevan Shrestha, the mission remains clear:
To prove that advanced technology products can be designed, manufactured, and scaled from Nepal.
Why This Story Matters
Vending King represents more than a successful business.
It demonstrates what can happen when local innovation meets determination, engineering, and entrepreneurship. At a time when Nepal imports much of its technology, companies like Vending King are showing that world-class products can also be built at home.
As Nepal continues encouraging innovation and industrial growth, stories like this highlight the potential of Nepali entrepreneurs to create jobs, strengthen manufacturing, and inspire the next generation of innovators.
