Khadgendra Sunar Accuses Nepal Police

Kathmandu, August 20, 2026: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Khadgendra Sunar has alleged irregularities in the procurement of uniforms for Nepal Police, claiming that documents requested by the Public Accounts Committee have not yet been provided.

Speaking at the committee's meeting on Thursday, Sunar said he had sought documents related to alleged wrongdoing in the procurement process around 15 days ago but had not received them.

He questioned why another tender worth millions of rupees had been issued while information related to the previous procurement process was still unavailable.

Sunar Claims Documents Have Not Been Provided

Sunar said the committee had requested documents concerning the police uniform procurement process but had yet to receive them.

He expressed concern that a new tender had been announced despite the pending documents.

According to Sunar, the situation raises questions about transparency in the procurement process.

He alleged that "certain middlemen" have taken control of Nepal Police Headquarters, although these remain his allegations and no finding of wrongdoing has been established in the information provided.

MP Says He Will Not Back Down

Sunar said he would not compromise on the questions he has raised regarding the procurement process.

He also challenged anyone who believes his remarks amounted to defamation to seek legal action.

He maintained that he was prepared to defend his statements in court if necessary.

Dispute With Police Chief Had Previously Emerged

The issue follows an earlier confrontation between Sunar and Nepal Police Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki during a Public Accounts Committee meeting.

The two had exchanged differing views over alleged irregularities in the procurement of police uniforms and other materials.

Sunar again stressed the importance of maintaining the dignity of the parliamentary committee, saying the committee should focus on investigating issues rather than engaging in personal disputes.

Procurement Process Under Scrutiny

The allegations raised by Sunar centre on several issues:

  • Documents requested by the committee have allegedly not been provided.

  • A new police uniform tender has reportedly been issued while questions over the earlier procurement remain.

  • Sunar has alleged the involvement of intermediaries in police procurement.

  • The lawmaker says he will continue raising the issue and has challenged anyone disputing his claims to pursue legal action.

The allegations have not, by themselves, established that corruption or procurement offences occurred. Any such conclusion would require an official investigation and supporting evidence.
