Massive Bhotekoshi River Flood Hits Rasuwa, Major Air Rescue Operation Saves 114 People

A sudden and severe flood swept through the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday morning, causing widespread destruction and forcing authorities to launch an urgent search and rescue operation. According to reports, the Nepal Army and private helicopter companies have so far airlifted 114 people from flood-affected areas. The Nepal Army rescued 85 people through multiple flights, while private helicopter operators rescued another 29 people.

The Nepal Army carried out rescues from several locations, including Timure–Dhunche, Timure–Trishuli, Mailung, Betravati and Trishuli–Kathmandu. Private helicopters also transported injured and affected people from Rasuwa to Teaching Hospital and Bir Hospital in Kathmandu for treatment. The flood has caused serious damage to settlements and infrastructure along the Bhotekoshi River, while rescue, relief and search operations continue. Authorities have also urged people living along downstream rivers, including the Trishuli, to move to safer areas and remain alert as the flood moves downstream.
