Sajha Confirms Blue Bus Service Will Use Green Buses
Sajha Yatayat has confirmed that its upcoming Blue Bus service will continue operating with its signature green buses, dismissing viral AI-generated and edited images showing blue-painted buses. The women-friendly service is set to begin from Shrawan 1 with free travel for women on eight electric buses equipped with CCTV cameras.

Sajha Yatayat has confirmed that its Blue Bus service will launch from Shrawan 1 across Kathmandu Valley using its original green buses instead of blue ones. The clarification comes after AI-generated and edited images of blue Sajha buses went viral on social media, with the company explaining that the Blue Bus name represents a women-friendly service concept rather than the colour of the buses, while stickers and other visual markers will be used for identification.
Women-Friendly Service
The first phase will begin with eight 26-seat electric buses providing free travel for women. The planned routes include Budhanilkantha–Lagankhel, Godawari, Nagdhunga–Airport, and Ring Road services, while the final operating schedule is still being prepared.
Safety Measures
Each bus will be equipped with CCTV cameras to improve passenger safety and create a more secure travel environment for women.
Government Initiative
The Blue Bus programme is part of the government's 100-day governance reform plan, which aims to operate at least 25 buses in the first phase to expand safer and more accessible public transport for women.
