The government formed an investigation committee investigating former Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, who is preparing to record his official statement as the probe into his shares, property details, and related allegations moves closer to completion. The committee, led by former High Court judge Achyut Prasad Bhandari, says nearly half of the investigation work has already been completed.

Committee officials stated that property records, share ownership details, and allegations linked to Gurung’s tenure as Home Minister have already been reviewed. Investigators say the final report will clearly determine whether Gurung is guilty or innocent based on evidence, official documents, and factual findings rather than political assumptions.

Sudhan Gurung had resigned from the Home Minister position on Baisakh 9 following controversy surrounding undisclosed shares and alleged links with businessman Deepak Bhatt, who is currently under investigation in a money laundering case. The controversy has triggered major political discussion across Nepal, with questions also being raised about whether Gurung could return to the Home Ministry if the committee clears him of wrongdoing.

Officials involved in the investigation have maintained that the committee will not make conclusions based on public pressure or political narratives, emphasizing that the evidence collected during the investigation will ultimately decide the outcome of the report.
