Curfew Imposed In Janakpur As Communal Tensions Escalate, Authorities Rush To Prevent Further Violence

The District Administration Office (DAO), Dhanusha, led by Chief District Officer Prem Prasad Luintel, has imposed a curfew in the urban areas of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City beginning 3:30 PM on Thursday after tensions between two communities escalated. Similar restrictions have also been enforced in areas surrounding Golbazar in Siraha, with local authorities stating the decision was taken to prevent possible violence, maintain public order and protect lives and property following a security assessment by the District Security Committee.

Why Authorities Imposed The Curfew

Officials said intelligence assessments and the evolving security situation indicated a growing risk of protests, clashes and public disorder if immediate preventive measures were not introduced.
