Police Arrest 1,022 Absconding Convicts Across Gandaki Province During Fiscal Year 2082/83

Police in Gandaki Province have arrested 1,022 absconding convicts during the fiscal year 2082/83 as part of a large-scale province-wide crackdown operation targeting individuals who had been evading court-issued punishments.

According to Gandaki Province Police Chief DIG Deependra Gharti Chhetri, those arrested include 808 men and 214 women who had previously been convicted but remained on the run.

Authorities say the arrests are expected to help recover a total of Rs 14 crore 36 lakh 80 thousand 851 in fines and penalties ordered by the courts.

Police also revealed that the arrested convicts were collectively sentenced to around 617 years, 11 months, and 12 days of imprisonment.

Officials say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen law enforcement, implement court decisions effectively, and improve public security across Gandaki Province.
