The elder brother of Ganesh Nepali, who died during treatment after a self-immolation attempt, has said the government did not appear to have failed in its efforts to provide treatment, while also expressing concern that some people were trying to use the incident for political purposes.

Speaking during a conversation with journalist Divakar Shah, Nepali’s brother said the government had made necessary efforts from its side after the incident.

Family Says Treatment Efforts Were Made

When asked whether he felt the government had failed in providing treatment, Nepali’s brother said he did not feel that way.

He said a team from the Prime Minister’s Office had been deployed, Home Minister Sudan Gurung was also present, and preparations were being made to take Ganesh to Delhi for further treatment.

However, he said Ganesh could not be saved despite the efforts.

Concern Over Political Use Of Incident

During the interview, journalist Divakar Shah said it appeared that the government had taken necessary steps for treatment and expressed sadness over what he described as attempts by some journalists and activists to politicize the incident.

Shah said he felt hurt seeing some people use the tragedy for politics and online views.

Brother Says Some Tried To Influence Him

According to Shah, some journalists had allegedly suggested Ganesh Nepali’s brother to speak against the government.

Responding to that, Nepali’s brother also said some people had tried to provoke him and encourage him to make statements against the government.

He said some journalists tried to influence him, but added that he had not given interviews to anyone earlier.

Statement Opens New Discussion

The remarks from Ganesh Nepali’s family have added a new angle to the ongoing public debate surrounding his death.

The case had already drawn strong reactions from political parties, activists and social media users. The family’s statement is now likely to spark further discussion on the government’s response, media responsibility and the political use of sensitive incidents.

The claims made during the interview could not be independently verified immediately.
