Gyanendra Shahi Blames Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle for Nepal's Stock Market Crisis, Claims Investors Lost Rs 2.15 Kharba

In a statement posted on social media, Shahi said thousands of investors are facing serious financial hardship as the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) continues to struggle. He argued that declining investor confidence and the ongoing market downturn have placed many families under economic pressure.

The RPP lawmaker also referred to the death of stock investor Rashmi Rijal, urging Finance Minister Wagle to treat the situation with greater seriousness. According to Shahi, the incident highlights the emotional and financial stress some investors have experienced during the prolonged market slump.

Shahi further alleged that the government's economic policies have weakened Nepal's capital market and discouraged investment. He claimed that many people have suffered heavy losses and that confidence in the share market has continued to decline under the current policy framework.

Calling for urgent intervention, Shahi urged the Ministry of Finance to introduce measures that would restore investor confidence, improve market stability, and support the recovery of Nepal's stock market. He said the concerns of thousands of investors should be addressed before the situation worsens further.

As of publication, Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle has not publicly responded to Shahi's allegations. The government has also not issued an official statement regarding Shahi's claims about the reported losses or the criticism of its economic policies.

The remarks have sparked renewed debate over Nepal's economic direction and the future of the country's capital market, with investors closely watching for any policy announcements that could influence market performance.
