India Hands Over 10 Prisoner Transport Trucks To Nepal In Birgunj Ceremony
The Indian government has handed over 10 prisoner transport trucks to Nepal as part of ongoing support for Nepal’s security and law enforcement agencies.
The vehicles were officially handed over on Tuesday during a ceremony held in Birgunj by Indian Consul General Devi Sahay Meena to Parsa Chief District Officer Bhola Dahal.
According to the Indian side, the gifted trucks are expected to strengthen the operational capacity of Nepal’s security agencies and institutions involved in law enforcement activities.
India has previously provided various types of vehicles to Nepal on multiple occasions. Earlier, at the request of the Nepal government, India had supplied around 640 vehicles, including SUVs, pickup trucks, and cargo trucks, to support the House of Representatives elections held on March 5, 2026.
Officials also stated that over the years, India has handed over more than 2,000 vehicles to Nepal’s security agencies, including Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Nepali Army.
The latest assistance is being viewed as part of continued cooperation and diplomatic ties between Nepal and India in the areas of security and institutional support.
