Pet Mama to Host Fourth Edition of Kukur Bhoj on November 7, Celebrating Nepal’s Tradition of Honoring Dogs

Kathmandu, November 5, 2026: Dogs and their families are set to come together for a celebration inspired by one of Nepal’s most distinctive traditions as Pet Mama brings Kukur Bhoj 2026 on November 7.

The event, inspired by Kukur Tihar, aims to take Nepal’s tradition of honoring dogs beyond its usual celebration by creating a community gathering centered on culture, companionship and appreciation for dogs.

According to Pet Mama, 2026 marks the fourth edition of Kukur Bhoj, an annual initiative that began in 2022.

Tika, Mala and Traditional Pooja

One of the central parts of Kukur Bhoj will be a traditional pooja ceremony, during which participating dogs will receive tika and mala as symbols of love, respect, and appreciation.

The ceremony draws directly from Kukur Tihar, when dogs are traditionally honored for their loyalty and special cultural significance.

Through the event, Pet Mama says it wants to keep the values behind this tradition alive while presenting them in a way that can engage younger generations and modern pet families.

Games and Activities for Dogs and Their Parents

Kukur Bhoj will not be limited to the traditional ceremony.

The event will feature games and interactive activities designed for dogs and dog parents, giving families an opportunity to participate together.

A dog fashion show will also be among the event’s attractions, adding a fun element to the cultural celebration.

‘Dogs Are Not Just Pets; They Are Family’

Pet Mama says one of the ideas behind Kukur Bhoj is recognizing how the relationship between people and their pets has evolved.

The organizer believes traditions can evolve with time without losing their original cultural values.

“Dogs are not just pets; they are family,” Pet Mama said while explaining the idea behind the event.

The company wants Kukur Bhoj to provide a platform where dogs receive the same sense of love, respect and recognition reflected in the traditional observance of Kukur Tihar.

Connecting a New Generation With Nepali Culture

Beyond being a pet event, Kukur Bhoj is intended to encourage younger generations to understand and appreciate Nepal’s cultural roots.

Pet Mama says preserving traditions is important for future generations, but believes those traditions can also be brought into contemporary community life.

By bringing dogs, their families and Nepali cultural practices together, the organizers hope to build a community where animals are treated with respect and included in family celebrations.

Fourth Edition of Kukur Bhoj

Pet Mama began its Kukur Bhoj journey in 2022, and the 2026 event is being presented as its fourth edition.

The company says it has continued organizing the event with the aim of keeping Nepal’s tradition of honoring dogs alive while expanding it into a broader celebration for dogs and their families.
