Three Year Old Girl Found Dead in Bara, Police Suspect Sexual Assault and Murder

A three year old girl who had been missing for three days has been found dead inside a vacant house in Jitpur Simara, Bara. Police suspect that the child may have been sexually assaulted before being killed, but say the postmortem report is needed to confirm the circumstances of her death.

The child has been identified as Garima Chaudhary, the three year old daughter of Manoj Chaudhary and Manmati Chaudhary. The family lives in Dasdhure area of Jitpur Simara Sub Metropolitan City Ward No. 1.

Garima had been missing since Sunday morning. According to the family and police, she disappeared at around 8:30 am from the settlement. Her family members and police had been searching for her since she was reported missing.

After three days of searching, Garima was found dead on Tuesday evening inside a house in Bhakti Tole, around 150 metres south of the area where she lived.

The house where the body was discovered belongs to Bir Bahadur Rokka, whose family currently lives in Hetauda. The property had previously been rented out but had remained vacant for around five months. The door of the house was not locked.

Local residents noticed a bad odour coming from the vacant house and looked inside through a window. After seeing the child's body, they immediately informed police.

Police officers reached the house and found Garima's body without clothes. Her clothes, including inner clothing, were also recovered from inside the house. Police said the body was swollen and injuries were also seen in her genital area.

Based on the condition of the body and evidence found at the scene, investigators suspect that Garima may have been sexually assaulted before being killed. However, police have stressed that the postmortem examination is required to establish what happened.

DSP Dilip Chhetri of the Area Police Office Simara said the condition in which the body and clothes were found has raised suspicion of sexual assault followed by murder. He said the postmortem report would provide further evidence and help confirm the cause and circumstances of the child's death.

Police completed the required examination and documentation of the scene before sending Garima's body to hospital for a postmortem examination.

Bara Police Chief Narendra Kunwar and a police team also reached the location after the missing child was found dead.

The Area Police Office Simara is investigating the case as a suspected murder. Police Inspector Prakash Thapa has been appointed as the investigation officer and is leading the investigation.

Police are now waiting for the postmortem findings while continuing their investigation to determine exactly what happened to Garima, and who was responsible for her death.
