Uber Officially Begins Test Ride Hailing Service In Kathmandu Valley through TaxiMandu Partnership, Offering Discount Rides And Entering Competitive Market With Pathao, inDrive, and Yango, While Expanding Global Mobility Services To Nepal

Uber has officially started a test ride-hailing service in the Kathmandu Valley through a strategic partnership with TaxiMandu. The service began on Wednesday and allows passengers to book rides using the Uber app for travel across different locations in the valley. The company has also been increasing registration of drivers, including bikes, cars, and taxis, in recent days to support the launch.
As part of its entry into Nepal, Uber has teamed up with TaxiMandu, where Uber will provide its global technology and app system while TaxiMandu will manage local operations, driver onboarding, and service management. The company has also started promotional discounts of NPR 30 and NPR 15 inside the app to attract early users. Uber plans to officially announce the full service launch soon, with initial operations limited to Kathmandu Valley before expanding to other cities.
In Nepal’s ride-hailing market, Pathao, inDrive, and Yango are already active, making the competition more intense with Uber’s entry. The service is also expected to support foreign tourists who are familiar with Uber in other countries, making local transportation easier and more accessible. Uber, founded in 2009, currently operates in more than 70 countries and over 10,000 cities worldwide, and also offers services like food delivery and logistics in global markets.
