Kathmandu Hostels Get One Month to Fix Safety Gaps or Face Action

Kathmandu District Administration Office has given private hostels one month to meet a new 21-point set of requirements covering safety, registration, fees, hygiene, infrastructure and student welfare. The crackdown follows complaints ranging from excessive fees and poor facilities to drug use and mistreatment, while authorities say some hostels have already faced fines of up to Rs 3 lakh and sealing during inspections.
