4.2 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Bajhang, Tremors Felt In Nearby Districts

An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck Bajhang district in western Nepal early Wednesday morning, causing strong vibrations across the district and nearby areas.

According to the National Seismological Research Centre, the earthquake was recorded at exactly 4:40 AM. Its epicenter was located near Kotdewal in Bajhang district.

The tremor was strongly felt by residents in different parts of Bajhang. People in neighboring districts, including some areas of Baitadi, also reported feeling the earthquake.

The early morning tremor caused concern among local residents, with some people leaving their homes after feeling the vibrations. However, authorities confirmed that no human casualties, injuries, or physical damage had been reported as of the latest update.

Local security personnel have been placed on alert and are closely monitoring the situation across the affected areas. Authorities are also collecting information from local communities to check whether any damage has occurred in remote parts of the district.

Bajhang and other districts in Nepal’s western region have experienced earthquakes in the past. Nepal is located in an earthquake-prone region, and small to moderate tremors are recorded in different parts of the country from time to time.
