Balen Government Says It Has Completed Most Of Its 100-Day Reform Agenda

The Balen Shah-led government says it has made significant progress during its first 100 days, reporting that most of its planned reforms have been completed or are close to completion. While the government views the report as proof of effective governance, many people will ultimately judge its performance based on whether public services and daily life have improved.

The Balen Shah-led government on Saturday released its first 100-day progress report during a press conference at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar. Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said the administration has achieved 87.2 percent of the goals outlined in its 100-point governance action plan, which was introduced on Chaitra 13 to improve public administration, strengthen accountability, and deliver faster and more transparent government services. According to the report, 70 commitments have been fully completed, 17 have reached more than 80 percent progress, while 13 remain below the 60 percent mark.

The government says the action plan was created to ensure ministries work with clear targets instead of broad promises. Over the past three months, it has focused on improving public service delivery, introducing governance reforms, increasing transparency, strengthening coordination between government agencies, and making state institutions more responsive to citizens. Officials say the report reflects measurable progress and demonstrates their commitment to delivering results within a fixed timeline.

Even so, the figures are expected to be examined closely by both the public and the opposition. While the government considers the report evidence of successful governance, many citizens are likely to assess its performance based on practical outcomes such as easier access to government services, reduced delays, greater accountability, and improvements in their everyday lives. As the administration moves beyond its first 100 days, the challenge will be turning reported achievements into changes that people can clearly see and experience.
