CIAA Arrests NEA Seventh-Level Officer Krishna Yadav With Rs 51,000 in Alleged Bribe Money in Sunsari

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has arrested Krishna Yadav, a seventh-level officer working at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Itahari branch, over an alleged bribery case involving Rs 51,000. The arrest was made in Sunsari after the anti-corruption agency received information about an alleged demand for money in connection with an electricity service. According to the CIAA, Yadav was found with Rs 51,000 in alleged bribe money during an operation carried out at a hotel near Phuyal Petrol Pump in Sunsari.

The CIAA said Yadav was allegedly negotiating with a service user and taking money for an electricity connection when he was arrested. The case has raised concerns about alleged corruption in the delivery of public electricity services, where citizens are expected to receive services through established procedures and fees. The CIAA has taken Yadav into custody and is continuing its investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged bribe, the purpose of the payment and whether any other individuals were involved. The allegations remain subject to investigation and legal proceedings.
