Mount Everest Sets Historic Single-Day Record As 274 Climbers Successfully Reach The Summit From Nepal Side, While Experts Raise Concerns Over Crowding Risks And Increasing Number Of Inexperienced Climbers

Mount Everest recorded a historic climbing achievement on Wednesday after 274 climbers successfully reached the summit from the Nepal side in a single day. According to mountaineering officials, this is the highest number of successful ascents ever recorded from Nepal in one day. The previous Nepal side record was 223 climbers on May 22, 2019.
This year, no climbers ascended from the Tibet side after Chinese authorities reportedly did not issue permits. Nepal has already provided 494 climbing permits for Everest this season, with each permit costing $15,000. Officials are still verifying summit records as climbers return to base camp and submit proof of their successful ascent.
Along with the new record, concerns about overcrowding and safety risks on Everest have again increased. Mountaineering experts have warned that heavy traffic near the dangerous “death zone” can create serious risks, especially for inexperienced climbers. However, some expedition organizers said proper management and enough oxygen supply can help reduce the dangers even during busy summit days.
