Nepal Police Announces Rs 10 Lakh Support For Families Of Police Personnel Who Died In Floods
Nepal Police has decided to provide Rs 10 lakh each to families of police personnel who died in the Rasuwa Bhote Koshi-Trishuli flood, along with debt relief, education support, and other assistance.

KATHMANDU, September 3, 2026: Nepal Police has decided to provide Rs 10 lakh each to the families of police personnel who lost their lives in the Rasuwa Bhote Koshi-Trishuli flood.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the Nepal Police Policy-Making Committee chaired by Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki.
Search For Missing Police Personnel To Continue
The committee has also decided to intensify the search for police personnel who remain missing following the disaster.
A specialised team, including experts, will be mobilised in coordination with the families of the missing personnel. Nepal Police said the search will be carried out more actively to locate those who have not yet been found.
Support For Families Of Deceased Personnel
The committee approved several additional measures for families of police personnel who died in the flood.
These include:
Rs 10 lakh relief for each affected family.
Waiver of special loans taken by deceased personnel from the Nepal Police Welfare Fund.
Skills training for one interested family member.
Assistance in finding employment opportunities for eligible family members.
Education support for their children through Nepal Police residential schools.
Children will be provided education support up to the basic level at a suitable Nepal Police residential school, while arrangements will be made for higher education at the Nepal Police Residential School, Sanga, Kavre, according to the decision.
Rs 50,000 For Police Personnel Who Lost Belongings
Police personnel working in flood-affected areas who suffered damage to their personal belongings will also receive Rs 50,000 each as relief.
The support is intended to help officers who lost personal materials while carrying out duties in affected areas.
Rs 40 Crore For Government Relief Fund
The committee has additionally decided to provide Rs 40 crore to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund as financial assistance following the damage caused by the Rasuwa flood.
The decision comes as rescue, search and relief operations continue in areas affected by the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli flood.
Support Beyond Immediate Relief
The measures announced by Nepal Police go beyond direct financial assistance, covering debt relief, education, skills training and employment support for families of personnel who lost their lives.
The police have also pledged to strengthen efforts to locate missing personnel and continue supporting officers working in disaster-affected areas.
