Prithvi Highway and Major Roads Across Bagmati Province Blocked by Landslides and Floods

The Prithvi Highway and several other major transport routes across Bagmati Province remain blocked or restricted following landslides and floods, affecting travel between Kathmandu and several districts.

According to a morning update issued by Nepal Police on Tuesday, landslides and flooding have damaged or blocked important roads connecting the Kathmandu Valley with major transport and commercial routes.

Prithvi Highway Completely Blocked in Dhading

The Prithvi Highway has been completely blocked at two locations in Dhading after major landslides.

Police said landslides that occurred on August 30 blocked the highway at Krishna Bhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality 7 and Parewa Bhir in Gajuri Rural Municipality 2.

The Prithvi Highway is one of Nepal’s most important transport routes, connecting Kathmandu with major cities and commercial areas outside the valley. The blockage has caused serious disruption to passenger and goods transportation.

Kanti Lokpath Also Closed

The Kanti Lokpath has also been completely closed after a landslide at Bhattedanda in Lalitpur.

The road serves as an alternative connection between Kathmandu Valley and areas toward Hetauda and other parts of Bagmati Province.

Authorities have not announced when normal traffic will resume on the affected section.

Roads in Rasuwa Blocked by Floods

Flooding has completely blocked important road connections in Rasuwa.

The Pasang Lhamu Highway section at Betrawati remains blocked, while the Trishuli Mailung Syabrubesi road has also been completely closed because of severe flood damage.

The disruption has affected road access to Rasuwa, where communities have already been facing major challenges following recent floods.

Night Travel Restricted on Other Routes

Some highways remain partially open but are operating under safety restrictions.

Traffic restrictions are in place along sections of the B.P. Highway in Kavre and the Tokha Chhahare road in Nuwakot.

Nighttime vehicle movement has been banned on these routes because of safety risks caused by the continuing disaster conditions.
