A government-formed investigation committee is set to submit its report today on former Home Minister Sudan Gurung. The committee was formed by the Cabinet meeting on Baisakh 28 and was tasked to study public concerns raised during and after his time in office.

The probe focused on allegations linked to his reported business partnership with businessman Deepak Bhatta and share purchases in Liberty Micro Insurance and Star Micro Insurance.

Questions were raised about the source of funds used for the investment, while Gurung has claimed that he purchased shares worth around 50 lakh rupees using borrowed money. He had resigned from his post after serving only 26 days as Home Minister following growing controversy.

The committee was chaired by former High Court judge Achyut Prasad Bhattarai, with members including Comptroller General Shobha Kant Paudel and Joint Attorney General Achyutmani Neupane.

Officials stated that statements were taken, property details were reviewed, and the report includes clear findings based on available evidence.
