Kathmandu’s LPG Supply Disrupted: Hotels and Restaurants Face Temporary Sales Restriction

Nepal Oil Corporation has temporarily restricted regular LPG sales to hotels, restaurants, canteens and other commercial users in Kathmandu Valley after flood damage at Krishnabhir disrupted the main supply route into the capital. Available supplies will instead be prioritised for households and vulnerable or essential users, while large businesses have been told to arrange refilling from Terai-based LPG plants and transport cylinders through alternative routes.

Could Driverless Podways Become Nepal’s Next Public Transport Revolution?

Nepal is exploring automated electric Podway transport as a possible solution to traffic congestion, difficult terrain and growing demand for cleaner public transportation, with feasibility studies and project proposals emerging in Kathmandu, the Kathmandu–Hetauda–Birgunj corridor, Biratnagar, Koshi, Karnali and other areas. While reports have mentioned a possible 2,055-kilometre national network, most projects remain at the study, DPR or planning stage, meaning Nepal is still far from having a confirmed nationwide Podway system.
