Heavy Rainfall Risk Reduces As Monsoon System Weakens Across Nepal

KATHMANDU: The risk of heavy monsoon rainfall has reduced after the weather system affecting Nepal gradually weakened, according to the Nepal Meteorological Department.

The monsoon system that developed and moved from the Bay of Bengal has started losing strength, reducing the possibility of intense rainfall in most areas.

Rainfall Continues But Heavy Risk Declines

According to the Meteorological Department’s Field Office in Attariya, Sudurpashchim Province has been receiving normal rainfall in most areas, while continuous rain has continued since September 25.

Office Chief Engineer Sanjay Kumar Shah said the low-pressure system has started weakening, but people should continue to remain alert.

Moderate Rain Expected In Several Areas

The department said there is still a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the Terai region during the afternoon.

Many areas may experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning, while the mountain, hill, and Terai regions are expected to remain generally cloudy.

From tonight, moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some areas, although the intensity of rainfall is expected to remain lower compared to previous days.

Weather Expected To Improve Gradually

Weather conditions are expected to improve gradually by next Wednesday, with many areas likely to experience partly cloudy skies.

Some places may still receive moderate rainfall, while nighttime conditions in the Terai region are expected to become generally clearer.

Authorities have advised people, especially those in vulnerable areas, to remain cautious despite the reduced risk of heavy rainfall.
