Dozens of Nepali students living in Japan have reportedly been cheated by a fellow Nepali identified as Pradip Bhatta, who allegedly collected large amounts of money by promising working visas and jobs. Victims said he took around 3 lakh Japanese yen from each student and assured them that their visas would be converted through Japanese lawyers and companies. Many students later discovered that the documents and job offers provided to them were fake.

According to affected students in Tokyo and nearby areas, several students were left without valid visa arrangements, jobs, or financial support after graduation. Some students said they had to urgently borrow money and contact other lawyers to continue their visa process before the deadlines expired. Victims also claimed that Bhatta repeatedly delayed refunds, threatened students asking for their money back, and continued targeting other students even after police complaints were filed. Reports say the total amount collected from students may be over 40 lakh Japanese yen.

The Nepali Embassy in Tokyo confirmed that complaints related to Nepali students being cheated are regularly reaching the embassy. The embassy has again requested people in Nepal to carefully study the real situation in Japan before sending students abroad. Officials also stated that students who face such problems in Japan should contact local police and inform the embassy of their situation for support and legal assistance.
