Nepal’s Leading Hotel for 2026
Aloft by Marriott Kathmandu Thamel has been named Nepal’s Leading Hotel 2026 at the World Travel Awards, with the honor announced on September 27 at the Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony at CROSSROADS Maldives. The Thamel-based hotel received the recognition as part of the annual awards honoring leading travel, tourism and hospitality organizations, highlighting its continued focus on contemporary hospitality and experiences influenced by Nepali art, music, food and culture.
Three Consecutive Wins
The 2026 award marks the third consecutive year that Aloft Kathmandu Thamel has received the title. Official World Travel Awards records show that the hotel was also named Nepal’s Leading Hotel in 2024 and 2025, completing three consecutive wins from 2024 through 2026.
Before Aloft’s three-year run, Hyatt Regency Kathmandu held the title from 2016 through 2023.
Who Aloft Competed Against
Aloft Kathmandu Thamel competed against several prominent properties for the 2026 title, including Gokarna Forest Resort, Hilton Kathmandu, Hyatt Centric Soalteemode Kathmandu, Hyatt Place Butwal, Moxy Kathmandu and Shinta Mani Mustang.
The nominee list brought together established international hotel brands and luxury hospitality properties operating across Nepal.

Aloft Kathmandu Thamel opened in 2019 and has since developed its identity around contemporary design combined with Nepali cultural influences.
Located at Chhaya Devi Complex in Thamel, the hotel operates in one of Kathmandu’s busiest tourism districts and provides accommodation, dining, entertainment, wellness, and event facilities.
