Tripureshwor Bus Fire: Driver Arjun Dong’s Two Wives Join Protest, Demanding Justice

KATHMANDU: Family members of Arjun Dong, the bus driver who died after suffering severe burns in the Tripureshwor bus fire, joined a protest outside Kirtipur Burn Hospital on Tuesday, demanding justice and action over his death.
Dong’s two wives took part in the protest along with members of the Independent Drivers Association Nepal, calling for an investigation into the incident and action against those found responsible.
Dong, a resident of Makwanpur, had been receiving treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital after being critically injured when a bus caught fire in Tripureshwor on Monday. He later died during treatment.
Two Wives Demand Justice
During the protest, Dong’s two wives demanded justice for their husband and action against those they believe may have contributed to the circumstances surrounding his death.
They said they wanted justice rather than other forms of assistance and called for those responsible to face action.
The family also raised concerns over the circumstances that led to Dong suffering severe burns and eventually dying during treatment.
Drivers’ Group Calls for Investigation
The Independent Drivers Association Nepal also protested outside the hospital, demanding an impartial investigation into the incident.

Action against those found responsible
Appropriate compensation for Dong’s family
An end to alleged mistreatment of vehicle drivers
Formation of a Drivers Commission to investigate issues involving drivers
Measures to prevent similar incidents in the future
Association president Dhan Bahadur Shrestha said drivers should not face mistreatment and called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Dong’s death.
Protesters Raise Slogans
The protesters raised slogans including demands to stop mistreatment of drivers, ensure drivers’ safety and provide justice to Dong.
The demonstration took place outside Kirtipur Burn Hospital, where Dong had been receiving treatment.

A bus caught fire in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, on Monday, seriously injuring Dong.
He was taken to Kirtipur Burn Hospital for treatment after suffering severe burns. Despite treatment, he died at the hospital on Monday night.
