Former Kapilvastu Municipality mayor and Nepali Congress leader Kiran Singh, 65, was found dead in the Gorusinge forest area on Sunday after being out of contact since Friday. His motorcycle had earlier been discovered about eight kilometres inside the forest from the East-West Highway, prompting an extensive search involving police, local residents and a trained search dog.

The High Court Dipayal has sentenced six people, including Nepali Congress municipal president Sajjan Shahi, to life imprisonment in connection with the 2022 M*rder of 16-year-old Binod Shahi in Achham. The ruling overturns a previous decision by the Achham District Court that had acquitted all defendants in the case.
